What Might Your Future Kitchen Look Like?
The kitchen has long been thought of as the beating heart of the home. Though not too long ago, the kitchen was seen as only a utility space. They were often tacked onto the back end of a house or they were in their own stand-alone structure outside of the main home — think back to summer kitchens of large southern homes.
In recent decades the kitchen has become an important hub of the home. For many, the kitchen is not only a place where food is stored and prepared but also the primary social gathering space, entertainment area, home office, and study.
Like our own futures, the future of the kitchen can very well take many directions. Read on to see what may be in store for your future kitchen. Most of the following are products and concepts that are available in the world TODAY!

Interconnected, Smart Appliances:
Big Names in Major Kitchen Appliances like GE are coming out with ranges, fridges, wall ovens and dishwashers that all have wifi connectivity through an app on your phone.
Their Refrigerators will let you know when the temperature needs adjustment, the water filter needs replacing, or if the door has been left open for too long. You can schedule hot water for coffee, control the ice maker, and adjust the temperature. All from the app. For ranges and wall ovens, you can preheat, set timers, and change oven temperature. All from the app. Dishwashers can tell you where they are in their run cycle, you can lock and unlock them, and they will tell you if your rinse agent is running low. All. From. The. App.
Home Automation for comfort and efficientcy:
As the internet of things gets larger and larger, your home may just get smarter and smarter. What is happening in the kitchen with major appliances has the potential to happen all over your home. Some smart devices may seem trivial but adding things like automated temperature control, light control and air quality control to your smart kitchen could make your home more healthy and energy efficient which saves you money!
